Vernfield > Students Learn About Environmental Science from a Souderton Alumni

In late October, Vernfield's fifth grade students researched endangered species as part of the SASD's environmental curriculum. Then they visited the Philadelphia Zoo to attend an educational class and to "meet" the animals they studied. Taylor Magee, an SASD graduate and senior at Temple University, who is also an intern at the Philadelphia Zoo, volunteered to share her expertise with our students. Led by Taylor, our fifth graders participated in fun "hands on" activities which illustrated the effects that habitat loss and climate change have on animals. While not officially representing the zoo, Taylor's wealth of knowledge helped our students prepare for a fun day of learning at the zoo! It was wonderful to see a Souderton graduate passionately pursuing her career goals, and still taking time to give back to our school district!
